An Appreciative Note and a Small Giveaway

designsponge holiday gift guide

I’m so grateful for the holiday love the Olivetti Valentine has been enjoying!  Janine from UPPERCASE curated a beautiful collection of treasures for Etsy’s Storque inspired by the magazine, and I was deeply honored for her kindest mention of my shop’s Olivetti Valentine (Janine and I originally “met” on Flickr via our shared love for vintage writing machines!).   It also brought a large smile to my face to see the Valentine as one of the picks from Bird and Banner for Design*Sponge’s 2009 bloggers’ wishlist. (Thank you for the keen eye Annie!)

More importantly, I’m also ever so grateful to YOU, my kind supportive readers and friends, for spending time with me in my little blogging space.  As a wee token of holiday appreciation, I would like to host a small giveaway of universal typewriter ribbons from my Etsy shop.

To enter, simply leave a comment with your preference of a black or red/black universal typewriter ribbon (I’d love to hear about your typewriters too!) by midnight PST on Thursday, and I’ll randomly draw two names on Friday.   Happy typing!

That Olivetti Valentine sure is beautiful and she deserves every ounce of attention she is getting! :-)

Oh my, a typewriter ribbon giveaway! Too amazing!

I have a Smith Corona Galaxie 11 Script and an Underwood Olivetti Lettera 22. Their names are Frank Navasky and Nancy Griffin. (The first name is inspired by “You’ve Got Mail” and the second was written on the underside of the machine in red fingernail polish by the previous owner.)

I love my little typewriters to death, their like pets to me…really useful pets. :-) They’d be much more useful, however if I could find some typewriter ribbon!

I’d have to go for the red/black ribbon because I’ve been told their nearly extinct! (Please say it isn’t so…)

black, my son begged for a vintage typewriter, and my friend who has a shop found one for him, he needs a new ribbon, but he loves it. It is blue, and he got it for his 9th birthday, ten is next month.

I wish I had a typewriter, but I don’t, so instead of entering the contest I’ll just write a little note to say I’m grateful for your blog and beautiful photos! :)

But of course, your vintage treasures should be on everyone’s wish list! Congratulations. You are kind to host this unique give away…unfortunatly the only typewriter I have left is a “Selectric” style and it’s in the attic. {You would disapprove, for sure!} I wish I had one of yours to play with Grace. This red one is awesome.

Oh what a fabulous giveaway! I just love your blog and am so delighted to find a fellow typewriter lover. I would love a new black ribbon. You can find my growing collection of typewriters on my blog and I use them all the time to create my unique fabric brooches. My favourite one in my collection is my 1908 Remington. Oh and that Valentine is to die for! Simply amazing!

i wrote one novella on it!
the a key used to stick, and when it would unstick it would always print out two like this : aa

I am probably too late for the competition but I would be very grateful if you could tell me where I could obtain either kind of ribbon for my Valentine I bought (paying off a few dollars a week) as a student in 1971. I used it for all my assignments for many years.
I have the feeling you can imagine how happy I would be if I could start using it again!!
