Vintage Fan - Uppercase Feature

The Poetic Home “Fan Club” enjoyed its first print appearance in the marvelous 2nd issue of the inspirational UPPERCASE magazine (it’s not too late to sign up for a subscription!).  I had the tremendous pleasure of penning a vintage column on “keeping cool with a classic” and sharing a few of the fan characters that have come across my path.  In the spirit of summer, shall we take a jaunt down Poetic Home’s Fan Club lane?

Which type of vintage fan tickles your fancy?  Are any “fan clubs” growing in your home?

oh, how i long to be a part of this club! we have a repro-vintage fan, which i have to say, does a fabulous job of keeping us cool without being an eyesore of plastic box! some sweet day i will get a real vintage fan to add to the ranks.

Grace, your photos/styling are the best!

old fans are such sculptural items. the blend of their heavy bases with airy and curvy blades and wire are like industrial art! and the colors…

I have sold some beauties but at the moment, (I’m embarrassed to say) a white plastic hardware store fan is keeping me cool in my studio!

These remind me of my childhood and staying with my Grandmother whose house had no air and plenty of metal fans….

and the fear that my mother instilled in me that I am going to get my hand cut off, hair pulled out, and any other maiming she could think of.

It kind of took the fun out of making your voice sound like Darth Vadar.

I was just talking with my coworker about this yesterday at dinner . Don’t remember how we got on the subject really, they brought it up. I do remember eating a amazing fruit salad with cranberries on it. I digress…
