A Rainbow Collection of Vintage Office Supplies

A warmest welcome to all sfgirlbybay readers!  Thank you for visiting — and thank YOU to Victoria for your lovely feature of some of my favorite vintage decor pieces.Vintage Office Supplies

May I introduce you to Roy G. Biv’s vintage office?  While some believed Mr. Biv was OCD in how he color-coded all of his vintage office supplies, he was merely surrendering himself to the rainbow acronym for whom he was subconsciously named.

From my collection of vintage office supplies (left to right), we have an array of colored red pencils and pink erasers for “carbon documents” (why on earth don’t erasers come with built-in brushes anymore?!), a vintage watercolor palate, an orange manual pencil sharpener, a yellow tape measure, a green wooden two-hole paper punch,  a green eraser for “original documents,” a cobalt blue inkwell, two blue-tipped “general” erasers, a Tru-Rite typewriter ribbon tin (with the original, sealed ribbon still inside!), and a purple two-toned antique Remington typewriter from the 1930s.

Memo Addendum: Roy G. Biv sincerely hopes that I find more vintage office supplies on my treasure hunting journeys.

Do any vintage office supplies capture space on your desk?

Such an awesome idea about bringing the vintage to your workspace! My desk always has fresh flowers in an old milk bottle that I purchased at a flea market last summer!

my workspace includes my sewing area where I make my textile cuffs. I love collecting the old style jewelry boxes (hinged inside with 2 tiers, satin lining) to store my vintage buttons in all the velvet lined compartments. Not only is it the most practical storage I have come up with, it also looks gorgeous!

where on earth did you find a purple typewriter?

I would love it if I had rainbow vintage supplies in my office. It would make my work day a lot brighter!

Truly swooning here over Roy’s office. Have been known to buy supplies solely for their colors, or for their faux-vintage design (give me American Typewriter font anyday). I have a couple of vintage hand tools in my pencil basket. A vintage, but non-working typewriter. Dreams of your lovely typewriters on Etsy…

OH YES – love vintage office supplies. I have several things – old jars for pencils/pins, old tin for little stuff, and vintage postcard holder for photos!

I especially like that pencil sharpener – amazing piece of equipement.

I feel that in todays culture sometimes it’s notacceptable to let your self ‘go’ with wondeful stationery.

No time to indulge – affected by budgets and deadlines!

Oh what a joy it would be to try the typewriter era!

I have a heavy steel tape dispenser that my husband enameled glossy black for me. The shine shows off the abuse of it’s former life in a hardware store, while protecting it from further indignities. Truly the star of my desk.
