Do you share my cravings for the feel of glass typewriter keys as you hopefully pen your next best-selling novel (emails suffice too)? If you can no longer tolerate the feel of plastic keys under your fingers, then my friend, it is time to steampunk your keyboard! The Steampunk Workshop has a great tutorial (albeit complicated) on how to make the most fantastic keyboard ever. For the not-so-technically inclined, you can purchase repurposed, steampunked keyboards, such as the one featured below, from Datamancer. I wonder if this purchase could qualify as a tax-deductable office expense?

That keyboard is a work of art! I don’t think I could subject it to the daily abuses my keyboard faces (I am a little clumsy and tend to spill tea all over everything, not to mention cookie crumbs), but I’d love to just stare at it.

hehe…unusual. It’s a great idea, sort of like Steampunk and Cyber punk.

Wow! I would never go through all that trouble (mainly because I have a fear of power tools) but I SO wish I had one of those! Someone needs to sell them, I’d buy it for sure!

Does anyone make a stand-alone typewriter, like a laptop, that stores written documents that can then be imported to a computer at a later date, after editing, re-editing, etc.?
