Vintage Reupholstery Treats

The mix of old and new appeals to my design aesthetic…I love taking a vintage piece and mixing it with a “modern” fabric to give it an unexpected personality.  Vickie Davis, an artist and reupholstery aficionado from New Zealand, reupholters vintage couches and chairs from 1950s – 1970s, which typically have good native NZ wood bones, with unexpected fabrics.  The result is quite fun!

I love the top racing stripe photos. It is the epitome of the “slow down in order to speed up theory.” You will find me sitting in these chairs as I race my children on Mario Cart holding the Wii wheel at arms length with my racing goggles on and a scarf over my shoulder.

Suzanne, I love the Italia chair too! It makes me want to drink bellinis and perhaps watch Sopranos ;)

Jon and Jill — The race stripes are so fun….they remind me of my dining table project that unfortunately looks like it wants to be a muscle car with racing stripes (Ames, you know about this one…).
