Vintage Chandelier + Bird Cage Stand = DIY Repurposing Project

Once upon a time, a nomadic renter named Grace had a deep obsession with chandeliers.  Without a ceiling to call her own, she thought of other ways she could gloriously live by the light of vintage chandeliers.  One day, she came upon a vintage chandelier that needed some TLC…with handfuls of Swarovski crystals (alas, sets of vintage ones are hard to find), re-wiring efforts, and hours of patient love later…voila!  Grace had a chandelier perfect for hanging on a repurposed vintage bird cage stand.

The moral of the story?  Even without a ceiling, you too can enjoy living by the light of a chandelier creatively hung on any re-purposed stand!

    Thank you so much!

Sally — The bird cage stand conveniently had a small “j” hook already attached to the top (to hold the original bird cage). But if the stand does not come with one (or you choose to use a stand other than one for a bird cage), I would recommend using a no-installation “s” hook, as long as there is somewhat of a flat part on the top of the cage.

Very nice Grace. Love how bright it is in this room during day time. Then, at night the glowing crystal rain drops must be mystical.

Thank you Sheau and Ayang! I do really enjoy sitting by the light at night…you are right Sheau, it does have a magical quality ;)

The bird cage on the side table is real, and the stand was used to hold a bird cage in the past. Now, thankfully no more birds have to live in these cages!

@Markus I get your drift on where you were going there. I often think of my past and use it as a means to analyze where I am and where I want to get to. Where I struggel is balancing it all out. How do you guys balance things out?
